 Romanian Health Ministry Reduces Internship Period For 36 Of 59 Specializations
The mandatory period of internship required of Romanian medical graduates will be reduced by one year as of 2010, for 36 of 59 specializations, Romania’s Health Ministry announced Sunday.
The decision is included in Order no. 1041 of the Minister of Health, of July 16, 2010, published Friday in Romania's Official Journal.
Health Minister Cseke Attila said the measure will speed up training for new doctors, who will have to wait less before being able to practice. He added that it also brings Romanian legislation in line with European Directives.

 Corruption Is Main Problem In Romanian Healthcare, Medic And Patient To Blame - Poll
Corruption is seen as the Romanian healthcare system’s biggest issue and both doctor and patient are to blame for bribery, says a poll conducted by the non-governmental Association for the Implementation of Democracy, published Thursday.
The study, part of the project "Promoting integrity in the healthcare sector," financed by the United States embassy in Bucharest, investigates the public's perception of corruption in the healthcare system.
The study found 91% see corruption as a fundamental problem of the system, directly affecting patients and which should be solved immediately, while 10% said it is of no concern. Most (65%) of those who answered are of the opinion that both patient and medic are to blame for giving and taking bribes. Of the total number of participants in the poll, 23% blame only the medic for accepting bribes, while 11% say it is the patient's fault for offering a bribe to medical personnel. Of the latter group, more than half (68%) said they had offered bribes.

Dacia Leads Romanian Exporters' Chart In Jan-Apr
Automobile Dacia, Nokia Romania, Rompetrol Rafinare (RRC.RO), ArcelorMittal Galati and OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) were the main exporters in the the first four months of the year, according to importer and exporter association ANEIR.
ANEIR said the top 100 exporters accounted for 53% of Romanian exports in January-April 2010.
The exports cumulated EUR10.82 billion in the analyzed period, compared to EUR8.76 billion in January-April 2009.
