 Romanian Dacia Car Registrations In Spain Up 23.3% In July, To 1,016 Units
Registrations of Romanian Dacia cars in Spain increased by 23.3% in July, to 1,016 units, from 824 units in the same interval in 2009, while the overall car market registered a 26.7% decline, according to data released by the Spanish association of car importers.
Dacia's share of the Spanish market rose to 1.37% in July, from 0.82% in the same period in 2009.
In the first seven months of 2010, the number of Dacia car registrations climbed to 11,380 units, from 4,289 in the same interval last year. On the Spanish market, Dacia's share hit 1.83% in the January-July interval, from 0.86% in the same period of 2009.
Dacia's SUV, the Duster, was ranked eighth in July by the number of off-road car registrations, with 309 sold units. In the first seven months of 2010, Dacia Duster registrations hit 1,866 units, placing the Romanian carmaker's SUV ninth.

 Romanian Govt To Punish Homeowners Who Refuse To Repair Their Degraded Buildings
Owners of deteriorated homes in Romania will be obliged to finance exterior work, such as repairs, plastering or painting, and will be temporarily exempt from paying property taxes if they finance the work themselves, but will otherwise face a fine or even prison.
The work must be done either on the homeowner's own initiative or at the request of local authorities.
This obligation will not apply to buildings which have undergone technical inspections and were considered to have a high seismic risk, or to buildings which have been thermally rehabilitated or are pending thermal rehabilitation, according to a draft ordinance obtained by MEDIAFAX.

Romanian Pupils Won One Silver, Three Bronze Medals At International Chemistry Olympiad
Romania’s team won one silver and three bronze medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Japan, which welcomed 267 contestants from 68 countries, the Romanian Education Ministry announced Tuesday.
Constantin Giurgiu, of the "Nicolae Balcescu" High School in Cluj-Napoca, won the silver medal, matching his performance at last year's Olympiad, says an Education Ministry press release.
The three bronze medals were won by Tudor Balan, of the "Costache Negruzzi" National College in Iasi, Ioana Moga, of the "Emanuil Gojdu" National College in Oradea, and Alexandru Sava, of the "Vlaicu Voda" National College in Curtea de Arges.
